UMFRAGE I Was Afrikas Jugend denkt

Zum zweiten Mal hat die Ichikowitz Family Foundation eine Umfrage unter Afrikas Jugend gemacht. Im „African Youth Survey 2022“ kann Ivor Ichikowitz zunächst feststellen: „The optimism we found in the first survey hasn´t waned.” Ein wichtiges Kapitel in der 100seitigen Auswertung der Umfrage war das Verhältnis zu ausländischen Mächten. Dabei schnitt China am besten ab, vor den USA, der Afrikanischen Union und der EU. „China is seen to have by far the biggest impact on the continent.” Auf die Frage “Why is Chinese influence positive?” antworteten 49 Prozent der Befragten: „Chinese products are affordable.“  41 Prozent gaben an: „Chinese investments are helping to develop our infrastructure.” Und 35 Prozent sagten: “China creates employment opportunities for people in my country.” Chinas Engagement in Afrika wird freilich auch negativ gesehen. So sagten 36 Prozent: “Chinese companies are exploring our resources without fair compensation.” Interessant die Haltung der jungen Afrikaner zur Demokratie. 53 Prozent sind der Meinung, “Western-style democracy is not suitable for the African continent.“ Die Autoren der Studie kommentieren: “Appetite for democracy is strong, particularly for African-style democracy rather than democratic Western-Style systems.”
