Jude Blanchette (CSIS) sieht in seinem Beitrag „a narrow window of ten to 15 years during Beijing can take advantage of a set of important technological and geopolitical transformations”. Für Daniel H. Rosen (Rhodium Group) hat Chinas Führung nur „ a few years to act before growth runs out. If China´s leaders wait until the last minute, it will be too late.” Yan Xuetong (Tsinghua) beobachtet einen „paradigm shift underway in Beijing: China believes that its rise to greatpower status entitles it to a new role in world affairs. …but that does not mean it will challenge Washington in every single domain.” Wang Jisi (Beida) sieht zwischen China und den USA „a contest more wide-ranging, and more intense than any other international competition in modern history, including the Cold War.” Oriana Skylar Mastro (Stanford) beschäftigt sich mit der Taiwan-Frage und konstatiert: „In recent months there have been disturbing signals that Beijing is reconsidering its peaceful approach and contemplating armed unification.”
